\nHannah Einbinder says working with Gillian Anderson on the new film \u201cTeenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma\u201d has actually given her a new perspective on the end of \u201cHacks\u201d and its legacy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDoing all this press with Gillian for the movie, she talks about \u2018X-Files\u2019 constantly,\u201d Einbinder tells Variety<\/em>\u2018s Awards Circuit Podcast. \u201cShe\u2019s asked about it constantly. It\u2019s made me feel like, \u2018oh, I\u2019m gonna talk about \u201cHacks\u201d for the rest of my life!\u2019 I\u2019m so happy that will always be something that I can come back to and meditate on and express gratitude for. When you are a part of something that has a deeply connected base of people who love it, that stays.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, given how many photo shoots and events Paul W. Downs and his \u201cHacks\u201d co-star Megan Stalter seem to show up at, why isn\u2019t<\/em> there a Jimmy and Kayla spinoff in the works?<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would love for it to happen, and I have said this: You know we had a very specific plan for the way we wanted to end the story in the finale,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s such it\u2019s so much pressure to deliver a satisfying ending \u2026 so, even to the last minute, even though we had this plan for a long time, we were like, \u2018Should we stretch it out? Should we do two half seasons?\u2019 But in the end, I\u2019m so happy we stuck to our guns, and it resonated with people the way that it did. And because of that, I don\u2019t I don\u2019t want anything else to come after. I want that to be the last thing people remember.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen grilled about \u201cJimmy and Kayla,\u201d he adds, \u201cgetting to play these characters and having these characters evolve as much as they have over the five seasons has been so gratifying that it\u2019s terrifying to think there won\u2019t be more between the two of us. But I think it would have to be something different.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOK \u2026 we\u2019re getting somewhere. So what might a \u201cHacks\u201d spinoff look like? \u201cThere\u2019s so many characters in the show that if we could do a universe, I want to see Mayor Jo in her first election. I want to see Marty coming to to Vegas in the \u201970s.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEinbinder likes the Mayor Jo idea. \u201c\u2018Better Call Saul\u2019 vibes,\u201d she says. \u201cHer just being a fucking absolute criminal. Are you kidding? I\u2019m in the freaking seats with the popcorn on that one.\u201d<\/p>\n
