\n\tProduction on the film is now underway in New York, with Leatherwood joining an ensemble that already includes Nina Dobrev (\u201cThe Out-Laws,\u201d \u201cThe Bricklayer\u201d), Tyler Hoechlin (\u201cSuperman & Lois\u201d) and Virginia Gardner (\u201cFall,\u201d \u201cHalloween\u201d). Peter Hutchings (\u201cThe Hating Game\u201d) directs.<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by \u201cThe Hating Game\u201d scribe Christina Mengert and Joseph Muszynski, \u201cIt Happened One Summer\u201d is being produced by BCDF Pictures (\u201cTo Leslie,\u201d \u201cWhich Brings Me to You\u201d), with Frolic Media executive producing alongside Dobrev, Hoechlin, Gardner and Bailey. Embankment handles worldwide sales and has extensively pre-sold the title.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film follows Piper Bellinger, a glamorous L.A. It Girl whose glittering world comes crashing down after a viral mishap gets her canceled overnight. Cut off from her wealthy family\u2019s safety net, she is exiled to a rugged fishing town with one ultimatum: fix up her late father\u2019s dive bar \u2013 or lose everything. There, she butts heads with Brendan, a gruff sea captain who has zero patience for influencers. As per the description, Brendan is \u201cthe last person she expected \u2013 and exactly what she needs.\u201d But he\u2019s not the only sexy sea dog around, with Leatherwood set to play Fox Thornton, \u201ca charismatic ladies\u2019 man whose easy charm masks a deeper loyalty and vulnerability.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt Happened One Summer\u201d has been translated into 25 languages, with two million copies sold in the U.S. alone. It is the first installment in the Bellinger Sisters series, described as one of the best-selling contemporary romance series of the past decade.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTessa wrote something that makes people laugh, swoon and stay up way too late reading \u2014 we want the film to do exactly the same thing,\u201d said producer Claude Dal Farra. \u201cAudiences are going to have a great time with this one.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLeatherwood, who most recently starred in Netflix\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s What\u2019s Inside,\u201d which premiered at Sundance and was acquired by the streamer for $17 million, is repped by Verve and Entertainment 360.<\/p>\n
