That experience shaped the kinds of stories I gravitate toward today,\u201d she says, noting that \u201cwith projects like \u2018200 Monas\u2019 and \u2018The Last Letter,\u2019 I get to champion movies for the same female audience that first sparked my love for film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?<\/strong> \u201cKeep your eyes on your own paper. I had been tracking \u2018The Gallagher Girls\u2019 development for decades and watched as it kept being optioned at various studios for features, but never for television. When the rights became available once again, I chased and courted the author.\u201d Dassani knew Miramax was the underdog in the right fight, \u201cbut I \u2014 and the rest of our creative package (pilot director and exec producer Brad Silberling) \u2014 managed to win the author over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>First job?<\/strong> \u201cMy first real industry job was Michael Gordon\u2019s desk at CAA in the international subdivision of the TV lit department. He also co-piloted director Gina Prince-Bythewood\u2019s deal to direct Paramount\u2019s tentpole bet \u201cChildren of Blood and Bone\u201d and a hat trick of gigs for Laurence Fishburne (\u201cThe Amateur,\u201d Netflix\u2019s next season of \u201cThe Witcher\u201d and the sci-fi horror \u201cThe Astronaut\u201d). DeVeau is the shining example for WME, starting 13 years ago in the mailroom and rising to partner through the agent trainee program. He works with a wide range of talent at various stages in their careers, closing deals that pivot brands or even lead to Oscar nominations. Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Winston Duke and Aldis Hodge are DeVeau\u2019s banner signings \u2014 but he\u2019s elevated stars like Brandon Sklenar (\u201cThe Housemaid\u201d) and gotten icons like Angelina Jolie back into the genres where audiences first fell in love with them (her upcoming reunion with action director Doug Liman, \u201cThe Initiative\u201d).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Jason Goldberg<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>Head of global film, Webtoon Prods.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Goldberg identifies titles on Webtoon and Wattpad for development into Hollywood hits. Following the success of Tubi\u2019s \u201cSidelined\u201d series, with the first film premiering at No. 1 in the U.S. and Canada, he produced two films that released concurrently earlier this year: \u201cKissing Is the Easy Part,\u201d based on a Wattpad webnovel with 32 million reads, premiered Feb. 13 on Tubi, while \u201cLove Me Love Me\u201d hit No. 1 globally on Prime Video, with a sequel announced two weeks later. \u201cIt is a miracle to get one film made, but it was really unbelievable having two debut on the exact same date,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?<\/strong> \u201cI would tell my 18-year-old self to be OK with admitting you don\u2019t know everything. It\u2019s so important to ask questions and take the time to learn from the people around you. Also, don\u2019t throw away your baggy jeans \u2014 you will need them in 2025-2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Josh Greenberg<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>Counsel, Pryor Cashman<br \/><\/strong><br \/>Greenberg says he takes \u201cpride in being someone that friends, family and clients trust as their \u2018go-to\u2019 person when they need help solving complex problems.\u201d He builds trust with his clients \u201cby being their strategic partner and helping them untangle complicated issues, structure deals and find creative solutions that protect and advance their core business objectives.\u201d That has included advising major gaming companies on acquisitions of user-generated content games, intellectual property and platforms for hosting and distributing video game content, such as Spark Universe\u2019s acquisition of Modrinth and the Essential mod for Minecraft.\u201d He also continues to advise indie producer Kaplan Morrison on corporate and business development matters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your next hurdle?<\/strong> \u201cNot allowing ChatGPT-generated contracts and legal advice to drive me absolutely insane,\u201d he says. \u201cAI is not a substitute for a good lawyer, and I\u2019ll keep on repeating that until the day that AI inevitably takes my job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Simone Harris<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>VP, television, Proximity Media<br \/><\/strong><br \/>Ryan Coogler is done proving himself as a box office king. Now the director and his creative team have TV in their sights, with a vital assist from Harris \u2014 who oversees development for Proximity principals Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and the \u201cBlack Panther\u201d helmer. She\u2019s spent a large part of her year prepping the anticipated reboot of \u201cThe X Files,\u201d led by Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. Proximity also recently announced an adaptation of the fantasy YA books \u201cAnimorphs\u201d; and Harris serves as co-EP on \u201cSouthern Bastards,\u201d a Disney+ pilot based on the comic book series about a military vet drawn into a web of crime in a small town.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Abby Ho<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>VP, social media &amp; engagement, Disney Branded Television<br \/><\/strong><br \/>\u201cFan whisperer\u201d is perhaps the coolest job title in this year\u2019s New Leaders class, and it\u2019s a serious undertaking for the Disney exec in charge of social strategy for the company\u2019s kids and family endeavors. Overseeing Disney Jr., Disney Channel and Disney Television Animation, Ho helps originals stay relevant to multiple demographics and keeps conversation high about beloved IP \u2014 including \u201cPercy Jackson and the Olympians,\u201d \u201cPhineas and Ferb,\u201d \u201cSofia the First: Royal Magic\u201d and \u201cMarvel\u2019s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends.\u201d Notably, she helped Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cHannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special\u201d amass 440 million impressions across platforms.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>What is your next hurdle? Why?<\/strong> \u201cThere has never been a better or harder time to be a marketer.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCulture and consumer behavior are fragmenting and shifting faster than ever, but that same speed creates real opportunity for brands to build relevance with younger audiences. Across my career from building fan communities and managing creators at Wattpad, to audience and young adult marketing campaigns at Netflix to social campaigns and franchise storytelling at Disney, I\u2019ve focused on translating audience behavior into marketing systems that turn stories into ongoing cultural engagement and that\u2019s where long-term fandom and growth are actually won or lost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMy next hurdle is continuing to navigate that transformation: building ecosystems where content, creators, and platforms work together in real time to grow impact, especially for global franchises trying to keep pace with evolving audience habits. He was also instrumental in bringing the Asmodee games \u201cCatan\u201d and \u201cTicket to Ride\u201d to Netflix. The Belmont University grad has had just two major jobs since she graduated: Nine years at Young Guns Publishing before she joined Rusty Gaston and the gang at Sony in 2022. It\u2019s not hard to see why: Songwriter Brian Fuller, who signed with Sony in 2024, says, \u201cAubrey has the drive and work ethic of 10 people and I feel so lucky to have her in my corner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greatest recent achievement?<\/strong> \u201cBecoming a mom and now a working mom. I was an assistant when \u2018The Handmaid\u2019s Tale\u2019 was still airing, and to be welcomed into and nurtured by that creative family was really special to me. \u2026 It has been incredible to watch this show find its passionate audience. Also, the amount of weekly texts I got from friends and family worldwide (I even had friends in China reaching out!) exuding love for the show was euphoric.\u201d She will also be producing the upcoming Hulu series \u201cConviction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Worst advice you have ever received?<\/strong> \u201c\u2018Wait your turn.\u2019 I think this is often said to slow people down who feel anxious, but who is anyone to tell you when your turn is?
