\n\t\u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day\u201d has amassed a heroic $1.67 billion after just 12 days in theaters, including $1.01 billion internationally and $655 million domestically. It\u2019s the second-fastest movie to reach the billion-dollar mark overseas, behind only 2019\u2019s comic book behemoth \u201cAvengers: Endgame.\u201d Among its numerous milestones, \u201cBrand New Day\u201d has already become the biggest movie of the year as well as the 12th-highest grossing release of all time<\/em>. It\u2019s a testament to the enduring popularity of Peter Parker, as well as the pent-up demand for Tom Holland\u2019s fourth solo adventure as Marvel\u2019s web-slinging hero. \n\tIn its second weekend of release, \u201cSpider-Man\u201d collected $236 million overseas and $145 million domestically. Most films would be lucky to earn that much in their debuts, much less after an entire week in theaters. China remains the largest international market with $29.1 million over the weekend and $186.7 million to date, followed by the United Kingdom with $16 million over the weekend and $87.4 million to date, as well as Mexico with $15.3 million over the weekend and $65.8 million to date.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith repeat viewings from comic book fans, and without much in the way of competition, \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day\u201d is poised to dominate throughout the rest of summer and into the fall. Sony\u2019s tentpole is barreling toward $2 billion worldwide, a benchmark that only seven films in history \u2014 \u201cAvatar,\u201d \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d and \u201cTitanic\u201d among them \u2014 have ever achieved. \n\tMeanwhile \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d has remained a force, even with the outsized appeal of \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day.\u201d Christopher Nolan\u2019s Greek epic earned $79 million overseas in its fourth weekend of release, as well as $31.5 million in North America. With $1.104 billion globally, \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d officially ranks as Nolan\u2019s highest-grossing movie of all time, overtaking 2012\u2019s \u201cThe Dark Knight Rises\u201d ($1.08 billion) and 2009\u2019s \u201cThe Dark Knight\u201d ($1.008 billion). It\u2019s also the biggest release ever for Imax with $289 million, surpassing the tally of \u201cAvatar\u201d with $271 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso this weekend, Paramount\u2019s animated \u201cPAW Patrol: The Dino Movie\u201d opened to $23 million from 30 overseas markets, representing 75% of the international footprint. Top territories were China with $5.5 million, France with $4.5 million and the U.K. with $2.2 million. The third theatrical feature based on the animated kids\u2019 series is opening next weekend in North America and 22 additional markets.<\/p>\n
