\n\tSiddharth Bodke\u2019s first look as the lead of \u201cScam 2010\u201d is out, with director Hansal Mehta and the actor both weighing in on the Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment production for SonyLIV.<\/p>\n

\n\tBased on the book \u201cSahara: the Untold Story\u201d by Tamal Bandyopadhyay, the series will tell the story of businessman\u00a0Subrata Roy\u00a0of the\u00a0Sahara India Pariwar\u00a0that operates in the financial services, construction, real estate, sports, manufacturing, hospitality, media and life insurance sectors. In the early 2000s, Roy was accused of several financial misdemeanors,\u00a0leading to his arrest\u00a0in 2014. He\u00a0died in 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show had drawn a\u00a0legal challenge from Sahara India Pariwar\u00a0following its announcement in May 2025. Asked by\u00a0Variety<\/em>\u00a0whether the dispute had been resolved, Gaurav Banerjee, managing director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, said, \u201cI believe so.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cScam 2010\u201d is the third in a franchise about Indian financial scandals that began with \u201cScam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story\u201d and \u201cScam 2003: The Telgi Story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMehta, who directed the original \u201cScam 1992\u201d and returns for this installment, said: \u201c\u2018Scam 2010\u2019 is a story about ambition, influence and the arrogance that follows both. It looks at how one of India\u2019s largest business empires was built on belief \u2013 and what happened when that belief ran out. It tells the fascinating story of the rise of an empire and the man who mistook it for invincibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBodke, who steps into the lead role, added: \u201cWhat floored me was the complexity of the lead\u2019s personality and the scale of the show. His passion, power, flaws, rise and eventual downfall make him an incredibly fascinating character to portray. The experience has been nothing short of thrilling for me, and I have relished the opportunity to play such a layered character under the guidance of someone like Hansal Mehta.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDeepak Segal, chief content officer at Applause Entertainment, said: \u201c\u2018Scam\u2019 has become much more than a franchise for us. \u2018Scam 1992\u2019 arrived at a time when the Indian streaming ecosystem was still finding its voice and went on to become one of the most loved and culturally resonant series to emerge from India. With \u2018Scam 2010,\u2019 we are taking that ambition even further. What makes this season particularly exciting is having Hansal Mehta return to direct. Hansal has been integral to the DNA of \u2018Scam\u2019 from the beginning, and his ability to transform complex real-life events into intimate, gripping human stories is one of the reasons the franchise has resonated so deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCurrently in production, \u201cScam 2010\u201d will stream exclusively on SonyLIV. It is part of an extensive slate unveiled on Monday.<\/p>\n
