\n\tThe San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival has added six films to its 2026 Official Selection, including new works from Jesse Eisenberg, Fred Cavay\u00e9, Amanda Kernell and Gabriel Martins, alongside feature debuts from Ah Biao and Tony Vahl.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe titles join 10 previously announced contenders and will compete for the Golden Shell at the festival\u2019s 74th edition.<\/p>\n

\n\tStarring Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, \u201cThe Debut\u201d marks Eisenberg\u2019s third feature as director. Moore plays a shy housewife whose small role in a community theater production transforms her into an obsessive method actor. Eisenberg wrote, directed and produced the film, also appearing in it and composing its original music and lyrics. The film will arrive in San Sebasti\u00e1n after Toronto, with A24 handling its U.S. release.<\/p>\n

\n\tA new adaptation of Victor Hugo\u2019s \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables\u201d comes from Fred Cavay\u00e9, with Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim and No\u00e9mie Merlant leading the cast. Backed by Studiocanal, which also handles international sales, the film follows Jean Valjean after 19 years in prison as he seeks redemption while being relentlessly pursued by Inspector Javert. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith \u201cBrace Your Heart\u201d (\u201cGarrat du v\u00e1immu\u201d), Amanda Kernells latest turns on a young woman fighting to preserve the reindeer herd inherited from her father while navigating love and betrayal. Produced by Nordisk Film Production and sold internationally by TrustNordisk, it will world premiere at Toronto before heading to San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrazilian filmmaker Gabriel Martins\u2019 third feature, \u201cOn Behalf of My Son\u201d (\u201cVicentina pede desculpas\u201d), follows a woman who seeks out families whose relatives died in an accident caused by her son. Produced by Filmes de Pl\u00e1stico in partnership with Netflix, it will also premiere at Toronto. <\/p>\n

\n\tTwo feature debuts round out the additions. Set in a forgotten border town, Ah Biao\u2019s \u201cBorder\u201d (\u201cBian jing\u201d) follows a broke young miner drawn toward crime after meeting an enigmatic woman.<\/p>\n

\n\tInspired by true events, Tony Vahl\u2019s \u201cKrux,\u201d starring Jella Haase, unfolds in a northeastern German village at the end of World War II. Global Constellation handles international sales, with the film also set to play Toronto before San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe six join previously announced Golden Shell contenders from Roberto Bueso, Nicole Garcia, Mikel Gurrea, Maha Harada, Pablo Larra\u00edn, Mike Leigh, Hans Petter Moland, Benjam\u00edn Naishtat, Javier Ruiz Caldera and Ye\u015fim Ustao\u011flu.<\/p>\n
