\n\tIndie distributor Cinema Guild has acquired North American distribution rights for documentary \u201cFor The Moon\u201d (\u201cCar la Lune\u201d), directed by \u00c9ric Baudelaire, that will premiere in the Currents section of the upcoming New York Film Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is a collaborative work created with five visually impaired students at the National Institute for the Young Blind in Paris.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tShot at the institute, \u201cFor the Moon\u201d \u201cmoves between observational cinema and collective invention, questioning the very notion of the gaze and the construction of images when our perception of the world relies on senses other than sight,\u201d according to the synopsis.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe doc, created in collaboration with M\u00e8\u00ef Jendoubi, Jade Ebara Ossebi, Iris Fontanella, Crystal Lau Chang, and Kadiatou Diakite, \u201cgradually unfolds an expanded experience of perception and redefines the idea of the visible through those who do not \u2018see,\u2019 yet teach us how to see anew,\u201d the synopsis points out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tU.S.-born \u00c9ric Baudelaire is an artist and filmmaker based in Paris whose previous features comprise \u201cThe Anabasis of May and Fusako Shigenobu, Masao Adachi and 27 Years Without Images\u201d (2011);\u00a0 \u201cLetters to Max\u201d (2014); and \u201cA Flower in the Mouth\u201d (2022). His works have circulated widely on the film festival circuit including at Locarno, Toronto, New York, and Rotterdam.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEric and his collaborators once again beautifully capture the joy of filmmaking in all its forms,\u201d said Cinema Guild President Peter Kelly, in a statement. \u201cWe are honored to bring this work to theaters and beyond.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tCinema Guild\u2019s upcoming releases include Hong Sangsoo\u2019s \u201cThe Day She Returns\u201d and \u201cNowhere to Lay My Eyes.\u201d Recent releases include several Otar Iosseliani restorations, Kamal Aljafari\u2019s \u201cWith Hasan in Gaza,\u201d and Aleksandre Koberidze\u2019s \u201cDry Leaf.\u201d<\/p>\n
