\n\tIan Crafford, who edited notable films including John Boorman\u2019s \u201cHope and Glory\u201d and \u201cField of Dreams,\u201d died July 22 of cancer at his home in Brazil. He was 82.<\/p>\n

\n\tBorn in Hemel Hempstead, U.K., Crafford started working at Elstree Studios at the age of 17 and enjoyed it so much he never returned to school, according to his son Scott. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe went on to become the youngest first assistant editor in England, working with editors such as the renowned Ann Coates. He worked in several departments including sound, ADR (Sophia Loren requested him to do her ADR, his son noted), and worked on sound effects for \u201cMonty Python\u2019s Holy Grail\u201d in 1975.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of his first credits as editor was working with Richard Burton on \u201cMedusa Touch.\u201d He went on to serve as editor for the James Bond film \u201cNever Say Never Again,\u201d directed by Irvin Kershner, in 1983. In 1985, he traveled with Boorman to Brazil for the production of \u201cEmerald Forest,\u201d and fell in love with the country to which he later retired. <\/p>\n

\n\tCrafford received a BAFTA nomination for editing Boorman\u2019s next film \u201cHope and Glory,\u201d about a young boy living in London during the WWII bombings. He moved to America, where he edited the Kevin Costner-starring \u201cField of Dreams,\u201d for which he received an ACE Eddie nomination, the book adaptation \u201cThe Indian in the Cupboard,\u201d \u201cThunderheart\u201d and \u201cClass Action.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHis last film was the 2012 comedy \u201cThe Hot Potato.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe is survived by his wife Antonia and his four children Scott, Roberta, Monyka and Paul.<\/p>\n
