\nJodie Foster and Walton Goggins are joining the cast of Disney\u2019s next animated movie, \u201cHexed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe casting news was announced during the Disney Entertainment Showcase presentation at Disney\u2019s D23 fan event in Anaheim, California on Friday. Oscar-winner Foster will play a devious witch queen, while Goggins will play a three-eyed cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt is so much fun to return to Disney because that\u2019s where my career began,\u201d Foster said, referring to her run of \u201970s films including \u201cNapoleon and Samantha\u201d and \u201cFreaky Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStarring Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones, \u201cHexed\u201d\u00a0follows a teenage oddball and her Type A mom, who discovers her weirdness is actually hidden magic, transporting them to a world where magic can run free.<\/p>\n

\n\tJosie Trinidad, the head of story on \u201cRalph Breaks the Internet\u201d and \u201cZootopia,\u201d is making her film directorial debut with \u201cHexed\u201d alongside Jason Hand, the \u201cMoana 2\u201d co-director and head of story on \u201cEncanto.\u201d Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones will serve as producers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHexed\u201d is set to release in theaters this fall on Nov. 25.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney\u2019s recent history with original animation like \u201cHexed\u201d has been spotty. This spring\u2019s \u201cHoppers\u201d was a hit, but other films that weren\u2019t sequels such as \u201cElio\u201d and \u201cLuca\u201d have struggled to draw crowds.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, established franchises remain core to Disney\u2019s box-office strategy: Last month, \u201cToy Story 5\u201d crossed the $1 billion worldwide mark since its June 19 release and stands as one of the highest-grossing films of 2026. That follows major success for 2025\u2019s \u201cZootopia 2,\u201d which beat out \u201cInside Out 2\u201d to became the highest-grossing animated film of all time with $1.7 billion at the global box office. \u201cZootopia 2\u201d also surpassed \u201cFrozen 2\u201d as Disney\u2019s biggest animated film ever and was 2025\u2019s highest-grossing movie. <\/p>\n
