\n\tAlexa PenaVega\u2019s \u201cheart is heavy\u201d after the death of Hayden Panettiere, most notably because it marks the third passing of a fellow child star in 2026. The \u201cSpy Kids\u201d actor noted in a statement on social media that she rose to fame with and grew up alongside the likes of Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg and Daveigh Chase. All three actors died in their 30s between February and August.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHayden, Michelle, Daveigh\u2026 my heart is heavy today,\u201d PenaVega wrote. \u201cThese aren\u2019t just names from my childhood. They\u2019re girls I grew up alongside, sharing a world that was exciting and also incredibly hard. We were kids navigating something so big, and not everyone had the foundation or support they deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cToday, I\u2019m grieving and holding their families close in my prayers and thinking of everyone still fighting battles we can\u2019t see,\u201d she added. \u201cHug your people close today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPenaVega, Panettiere, Trachtenberg and Chase all came of age together in Hollywood in the 2000s. Vega\u2019s breakout turn in 2001\u2019s \u201cSpy Kids\u201d made her a regular at Hollywood premieres, where she was often photographed with her fellow child-turned-teen stars. Chase and PenaVega walked part of Disney\u2019s \u201cFreaky Friday\u201d red carpet together in 2003 (one year after Chase voiced Lilo in the studio\u2019s animated movie \u201cLilo & Stitch\u201d), while PaneVega attended the premiere of Panettiere\u2019s \u201cRaising Helen\u201d in 2004, among several other Hollywood encounters.<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere died on Sunday\u00a0in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 36. Her death is currently under investigation, but there were \u201cnot any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances,\u201d according to police. She was beloved for the television series \u201cHeroes\u201d and \u201cNasvhille,\u201d but she broke out as a Disney child star in \u201cA Bug\u2019s Life\u201d and \u201cRemember the Titans,\u201d among other hit roles. <\/p>\n

\n\tAlso beginning work as a child actor, Trachtenberg appeared in the \u201990s Nickelodeon series \u201cThe Adventures of Pete & Pete\u201d before starring in the family film \u201cHarriet the Spy\u201d in 1996 at the age of 10. As a teenager, she featured as Dawn Summers in \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d and later played Georgina Sparks on the teen drama \u201cGossip Girl.\u201d Trachtenberg died in February at 39 years old due to natural causes, as a result of complications from diabetes mellitus.<\/p>\n

\nChase, who voiced Lilo in \u201cLilo & Stitch\u201d and starred in \u201cThe Ring,\u201d died June 16 in Los Angeles at 35. The actor\u2019s cause of death was AIDS, according to the coroner\u2019s office. A secondary cause was listed as \u201cchronic polysubstance use.\u201d Chase\u2019s father, John David Schwallier, told the New York Times that she had been homeless and had struggled with drugs since the age of 13.<\/p>\n
