\nShirley MacLaine has made a rare video appearance at the age of 92, and she\u2019s not shy to throw some quips at \u201cSweet Charity\u2018s\u201d expense.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would like to see \u2018Sweet Charity\u2019 again. Now, while you\u2019re watching it, remember how hard we worked,\u201d MacLaine said in a video posted by the Southampton Playhouse ahead of the theater\u2019s upcoming screening of Bob Fosse\u2019s musical film. \u201cAnd between you and me, it didn\u2019t do very well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMacLaine starred in Bob Fosse\u2019s \u201cSweet Charity,\u201d which released in 1969 and was a box office flop; nevertheless, Fosse found commercial success later in his career with \u201cCabaret\u201d and \u201cAll That Jazz.\u201d In Fosse\u2019s directorial debut, MacLaine was joined in the cast by Sammy Davis Jr., Chita Rivera, John McMartin, Paula Kelly and Ricardo Montalban.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn December 2025, MacLaine received a lifetime achievement award at the first-ever Dance Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The award was also named in MacLaine\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGetting an award for dancing is the most important acknowledgment I could have,\u201d she said while accepting her award. \u201cMy mother took me to dancing class when I was three because I had weak ankles and I fell in love with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMacLaine won the best actress Oscar in 1984 for her work in \u201cTerms of Endearment.\u201d Her previous Oscar nominations were for \u201cThe Turning Point,\u201d \u201cThe Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir,\u201d \u201cIrma la Douce,\u201d \u201cThe Apartment\u201d and \u201cSome Came Running.\u201d Her last on-screen appearance was in the 2022 film \u201cAmerican Dreamer\u201d and two episodes of \u201cOnly Murders in the Building.\u201d In November 2025, Variety<\/em> exclusively announced that MacLaine and Ansel Elgort would be starring in a road trip comedy titled \u201cLucy Boomer.\u201d<\/p>\n
