\nSandra Bullock is opening up about the death of her late partner Bryan Randall.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cPractical Magic 2\u201d star made the rare remarks about her private life during an appearance on the Smartless podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.<\/p>\n

\n\tRandall, a photographer, battled ALS before passing away on Aug. 5, 2023 at the age of 57. He and Bullock had been together 8 years at the time of his death.<\/p>\n

\n\tBullock said Randall asked her to keep his diagnosis a secret. \u201cHe asked me not to share. I know why he asked me not to,\u201d Bullock said (via E! News.). \u201cMy sister [Gesine Bullock-Prado] was the only one who knew for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe admitted that the secrecy \u201cisolated me in the process.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy sister was the only one who knew for a while,\u201d Bullock explained. \u201cAt first I go, \u2018Oh, I can handle that. I can be quiet.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, caring for Randall and raising her two young kids during the Covid pandemic became \u201ca trifecta that was pretty dark,\u201d Bullock said.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe eventually shared what was going on with friends Jennifer Aniston and Bateman\u2019s wife, Amanda. \u201cI think where he was in his journey, both physically and mentally, I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed,\u201d Bullock said. \u201cThere was something that had shifted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBullock said Randall was sick for at least half of the eight years they were together. \u201cMy person left a lot earlier than the body left,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t think I ever dealt with that until after he passed, because you\u2019re just on this treadmill.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBullock and Randall reportedly started dating in January 2015 after she hired him to photograph her son Louis\u2019s fifth birthday party. They made their red-carpet debut 10 months later at the \u201cOur Brand is Crisis\u201d premiere in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBryan chose to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request,\u201d Randall\u2019s family said in a statement following his passing. \u201cWe are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours. At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.\u201d<\/p>\n
