Roskam, has been set as the closing night film of this year\u2019s San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=6253\">\u2018Game of Thrones\u2019 Play \u2018The Mad King\u2019 Reveals Behind-The-Scenes Secrets in Stage Transformation Video (EXCLUSIVE)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tPlaying in the festival\u2019s Official Selection out of competition, the film will have its European premiere at San Sebasti\u00e1n after world premiering at Toronto, where it screens in Special Presentations. It will close the festival after the awards ceremony on Sept. 26 at the Kursaal.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cLe Faux Soir\u201d is produced by Belgium\u2019s Frakas Productions and Roskam\u2019s Harbor Men Pictures with France\u2019s Rectangle Productions. Goodfellas handles international sales, while Cin\u00e9art will release the film in Benelux.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSet in Nazi-occupied Belgium in 1943, the film follows a group of Resistance fighters after the occupying forces turn national daily <em>Le Soir<\/em> into a propaganda outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWith commemorations of the 1918 Armistice banned, they hatch a plan to produce a fake edition of the newspaper, reproducing its paper, nameplate and format but filling its pages with articles mocking the German occupiers. The operation has been described as \u201cthe world\u2019s first media hack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tArieh Worthalter (\u201cThe Goldman Case\u201d) leads the ensemble, alongside M\u00e9lanie Thierry (\u201cDa 5 Bloods\u201d), Karim Leklou (\u201cJim\u2019s Story\u201d), Mara Taquin (\u201cZero Fucks Given\u201d), Bouli Lanners (\u201cThe Night of the 12th\u201d), Julien Frison (\u201cThe Happening\u201d) and Fran\u00e7ois Damiens (\u201cThe B\u00e9lier Family\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=6251\">Hayden Panettiere\u2019s \u2018Heroes\u2019 Dad Calls Out \u2018Predatory\u2019 Paparazzi Who \u2018Hunted\u2019 Her and the Press Who Asked \u2018Misogynistic\u2019 Questions When She Was a Teen<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe closing berth brings Roskam back to San Sebasti\u00e1n 12 years after his U.S. crime drama \u201cThe Drop,\u201d starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and James Gandolfini, which won the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRoskam, who previously worked as a journalist for Dutch-language newspaper <em>De Morgen<\/em>, broke through internationally with feature debut \u201cBullhead.\u201d After premiering in Berlin\u2019s Panorama section, the film earned an Academy Award nomination for best foreign-language film and landed Roskam on <em>Variety\u2019s<\/em> Ten Directors to Watch list.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe later directed \u201cRacer and the Jailbird,\u201d starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Ad\u00e8le Exarchopoulos, which screened out of competition at Venice and was selected as Belgium\u2019s Academy Awards entry. He also helmed the first three episodes of Apple TV+ miniseries \u201cBlack Bird.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cLe Faux Soir\u201d returns Roskam to the thriller territory that has marked much of his career.
