\nNetflix and AMC Studios are set to co-produce the drama series \u201cBannerman,\u201d Variety<\/em> has learned. The series is based on John R. Maxim\u2019s Paul Bannerman novels, of which five were published. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis marks the first Netflix\/AMC Studios co-production. The show will air on AMC in the US and Canada and then become available on Netflix in those markets 90 days after the season finale. Netflix and AMC together will premiere each episode in Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Netflix will air the show exclusively in all other territories.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe logline for \u201cBannerman\u201d states, \u201cPaul Bannerman, a lethal covert operative, convinces a group of the world\u2019s most deadly assassins to quit the spy game for a chance to lead normal lives in the suburbs of Connecticut. Old enemies, bad habits, a paranoid government and an unrelenting ex-cop will make retirement their most difficult mission yet.\u201d <\/p>\n

\nShane Black co-wrote the first episode with Craig Silverstein. Both serve as executive producers, with Silverstein also showrunning and with Black also directing. Greg Nicotero (\u201cThe Walking Dead,\u201d \u201cCreepshow,\u201d \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d) and Brian Witten (\u201cCreepshow\u201d) also executive produce. AMC Studios is the lead studio. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2019Bannerman\u2019 is a smart, high-octane thrill ride of a series, powered by an extraordinary creative team,\u201d said Dan McDermott, chief content officer of AMC Global Media and president of AMC Studios. \u201cThis is the perfect premium drama to kick off our first co-production with Netflix, and we are thrilled to continue evolving and expanding our partnership by jointly developing and producing select original series for our respective platforms.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe first Bannerman novel, \u201cThe Bannerman Solution,\u201d was published in 1989. That was followed by \u201cThe Bannerman Effect,\u201d \u201cBannerman\u2019s Law,\u201d and \u201cBannerman\u2019s Promise.\u201d The final novel, \u201cBannerman\u2019s Ghosts,\u201d came out in 2003. <\/p>\n

\n\tSilverstein previously created the AMC series \u201cTurn: Washington\u2019s Spies\u201d as well as the animated AMC series \u201cPantheon.\u201d He is also known for creating or co-creating shows like \u201cTerra Nova\u201d and \u201cNikkita,\u201d while his other credits include \u201cBones,\u201d \u201cThe Old Man.\u201d He is an executive producer and co-showrunner on Disney+\u2019s \u201cPercy Jackson and the Olympians.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBannerman\u201d marks the first TV writing credit of Black\u2019s career, though he did receive a credit for creating the character\u2019s on which Fox\u2019s \u201cLethal Weapon\u201d TV show was based. Aside from \u201cLethal Weapon,\u201d he is known for writing movies like \u201cThe Nice Guys,\u201d \u201cKiss Kiss Bang Bang,\u201d \u201cIron Man 3,\u201d and \u201cLast Action Hero.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSilverstein is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson. Black is repped by WME, Greenlit, and Eric Brooks. Nicotero is repped by UTA, Mosaic, and JSSK. Witten is repped by UTA and Mosaic.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis marks the latest example of a TV show based on a multi-part book series. Streamers have found great success with such shows in recent years, including hits like \u201cBridgerton\u201d (Netflix), \u201cThe Lincoln Lawyer\u201d (Netflix), \u201cVirgin River\u201d (Netflix), \u201cReacher\u201d (Amazon), \u201cSlow Horses\u201d (Apple TV), and \u201cOff Campus\u201d (Amazon). <\/p>\n
