\n\tComedy development exec Andy Weil is exiting Netflix after 11 years to join Amazon as its new head of comedy. The exec rejoins his former Netflix boss Peter Friedlander, now head of global TV at Amazon MGM Studios.<\/p>\n

\n\tWeil is a well-known comedy buff who has championed some of Netflix\u2019s biggest laffers, including \u201cMaster of None,\u201d \u201cA Man on the Inside,\u201d \u201cNobody Wants This,\u201d \u201cUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,\u201d \u201cBojack Horseman,\u201d \u201cTires\u201d and more. He also developed and worked on Netflix\u2019s Emmy-winning anthology series \u201cBlack Mirror.\u201d He also helped revive \u201cGirls5eva\u201d at Netflix, which should have been a bigger hit.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe has deep creative instincts, strong relationships across the comedy community, and a proven track record of identifying and developing standout series,\u201d Friedlander said in a memo to staffers. Weil will officially join on Sept. 14.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore Netflix, Weil was VP of comedy development at Universal TV, where he reported to Tracey Pakosta, who eventually became his boss at Netflix as well. Earlier in his career, Weil was head of scripted television at BermanBraun, working on series such as \u201cAlpha\u201d and \u201cThe Cape.\u201d<\/p>\n
