The actor revealed his desire to be back behind a camera, as well as his latest creative venture as a budding stand-up comic, while at the <em>Variety <\/em>Lounge, presented by the Sarajevo Film Festival and BH Telecom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=6344\">Folk Horror \u2018Wolf Days,\u2019 Family Drama \u2018The First Week of August\u2019 Win at Sarajevo Industry Awards<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tDespite having a career spanning more than 100 films, starring in major franchises such as \u201cThe Hunger Games\u201d and \u201cStar Wars,\u201d leading TV hits such as \u201cTrue Detective\u201d and \u201cCheers,\u201d and now hosting a podcast, Harrelson said directing \u201cLost in London\u201d was \u201cthe most challenging thing I have ever experienced.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTo celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut, Harrelson is thinking about revisiting the format, albeit in a less dramatic fashion. \u201cI\u2019ll go to one of the streamers and say: Hey, do you want to try doing a live film? Maybe like an hour, though, and certainly not like [\u2018Lost in London\u2019], when there were 14 different locations and hundreds of extras.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cIt nearly killed me,\u201d he recalled of directing and starring in the high-pressure shoot. \u201cI think it could be fun to try it again, but this time I think it will be easier having the benefit of having done it before and knowing 190 things I would have done differently. I can hopefully fix it, make it better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn the subject of stressful new ventures, Harrelson has recently taken on a new practice: stand-up comedy. \u201cI have a lot of friends who do stand up and I admire them a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cTo me, it\u2019s the most difficult, challenging form of entertainment because it\u2019s you, a microphone, and the audience. And you\u2019ve got to make them laugh. Anyway, I\u2019ve been making notes and everything. I am sure I\u2019m going to just absolutely crash the first time, but I think I\u2019ll try.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCan we expect a one-hour comedy special anytime soon? \u201cI haven\u2019t even tried it!,\u201d he exclaims. \u201cNo! Can\u2019t expect the special [laughs].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWe can expect some comedy, however, with Harrelson set to appear on Apple TV\u2019s latest comedy series \u201cBrothers.\u201d The series reunites Harrelson with \u201cTrue Detective\u201d co-star Matthew McConaughey to play fictionalized versions of themselves. Harrelson had known McConaughey\u2019s mother for 25 years when she pulled him to one side and told him she knew his dad. \u201cI\u2019m thinking, well, that\u2019s weird that she\u2019s never told me this. I\u2019m thinking, well, what\u2019s behind this story?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHas working with McConaughey in a series loosely inspired by their own lives meant learning something new about each other? \u201cI don\u2019t know if we learned anything new,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, we\u2019ve been hanging out a long time, and we\u2019re very good friends. I guess I learned that he\u2019s one of the funnest people I know. I love hanging out with him. I can barely get enough of him. And he is very much like my brother. I think the show turned out real good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnother Harrelson project to look forward to is Jason Bateman\u2019s \u201cThe Cackling of the Dodos,\u201d which marks another big reunion: with Sam Rockwell, with whom he shared the screen in \u201cThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Netflix film is the first production under Harrelson\u2019s new banner, Children at Play, which he launched with \u201cChampions\u201d producer Anna Schwartz. The producer found the script, which Harrelson said was \u201cpretty good.\u201d He told Schwartz he would do the film if she got Rockwell to sign on, which she did. Then, Harrelson asked for Bateman to direct. And Schwartz booked the \u201cOzark\u201d star.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHarrelson was particularly elated to get Bateman, whom he called \u201cthe guy with the Midas touch.\u201d \u201cThey did a rewrite, and it really became fantastic. Much more like a Martin McDonagh or Coen Brothers type of vibe. I think that one\u2019s going to be real good.
