\n\tWith the musician and filmmaker\u2019s latest movie \u201cI Love Boosters\u201d having hit cinemas on May 22, Riley has been busy promoting the crime comedy \u2014\u00a0starring Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza Gonz\u00e1lez and LaKeith Stanfield \u2014\u00a0across social media. <\/p>\n

\n\tBut when asked by someone on X why Neon chose to launch the film at SXSW rather than in Cannes, Riley said that it was down to the French festival, which he claimed had also rejected his previous projects, including his 2018 dark comedy feature debut \u201cSorry to Bother You\u201d (which bowed in Sundance that year) and 2023 surrealist comedy series \u201cI am a Virgo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCannes didn\u2019t pick Sorry to Bother You altho they picked other stuff that had been played in their home country,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThey picked The Idol over I\u2019m a Virgo. They didn\u2019t pick I Love Boosters.\u201d<\/p>\n
