\n\tRunning May 25-28 on Magaluf beach in Calvi\u00e0, Mallorca, Spain, the 10th anniversary edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment brings 26 projects from Europe and the Americas to its international pitching sessions, spanning drama series, comedies, direct-to-streaming movies and vertical series.<\/p>\n

\n\tAcross the selection, one clear through-line is identity under pressure. \u201cNaked\u201d tackles eating disorders, beauty standards and family silence; Marcos Callejo\u2019s movie \u201cNana\u201d frames artistic and sexual awakening through a young painter\u2019s bond with a charismatic classmate; and Loba Loba-produced \u201cAdopted Girls\u201d follows Chinese-Spanish adoptees confronting origin and belonging.<\/p>\n

\n\tA more comic register carries the same tension elsewhere. \u201cBreakdowns,\u201d by Argentina\u2019s Lab Producciones, follows a woman reconnecting with childhood friends after leaving a psychiatric hospital, only to find their seemingly functional lives marked by their own obsessions. Carla Stagno\u2019s Chilean project \u201cIntense\u201d approaches motherhood as both desire and refusal, while in \u201cPlaying Away,\u201d Uruguayan Carlos Morelli uses soccer to explore adolescence, migration and a fractured mother-daughter bond.<\/p>\n

\n\tReal-life material drives some of the lineup\u2019s most distinctive titles. Created by Guillermo Chapa, \u201cTriptych\u201d centers on Francis Bacon\u2019s final lover, a young Spanish businessman whose hidden relationship with the painter resurfaces 25 years later, when he becomes the victim of Spain\u2019s biggest contemporary art theft. \u201cPapa Bas\u201d is inspired by Dutch psychiatrist Jan Bastiaans, whose controversial LSD-assisted treatment of World War II and Holocaust survivors drew international attention.<\/p>\n

\n\tRecent history also informs Ukraine-Germany dramedy \u201cHow Come Boris Had No Worries?\u201d set between the 2004 Orange Revolution and Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\n\tMexico\u2019s \u201cGreatest Hits\u201d and RTP-backed \u201cDark Hope\u201d give the lineup two music-driven projects in different registers: one using Spanish-language songs as triggers for stories of love, loss and emotional memory, the other following a young Afro-Portuguese musician drawn into the music business and the criminal underworld after his best friend\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Ann Perell\u00f3, \u201cNaked\u201d pairs Menorca-based Empatic with Corte y Confecci\u00f3n de Pel\u00edculas, coming off Oliver Laxe\u2019s Cannes Jury Prize winner and six-time Goya winner \u201cSir\u0101t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the movie strand, Callejo\u2019s coming-of-age drama \u201cNana\u201d marks one of the projects arriving with the strongest prior operator backing, including regional broadcasters IB3 and TV3 and Filmin, Spain\u2019s leading indie platform.<\/p>\n

\n\tProjects at Conecta are competing for cash, services and market access, including \u20ac3,000 ($3,492) prizes from the Spain Film Commission and Triodos Bank, Dolby Atmos sessions from Warner Music, Acorde catalogue music support, New Art post-production services and invitations to BAM, SANFIC Industria and Estonia\u2019s TV Beats Forum.<\/p>\n

\n\tPart of Inside Content\u2019s Event Conecta umbrella, Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca is held with the support of Calvi\u00e0 Town Council, ITS, ICIB, the Mallorca Island Council, Palma Town Council and IB3, reinforcing the forum\u2019s Europe-Americas industry focus.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cDark Hope\u201d<\/strong> (Elisa Generoso, Diogo Gazella Carvalho, Portugal\/Germany\/Cape Verde)<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Portugal\u2019s Das Filmes, Germany\u2019s Signed Media and Cape Verde\u2019s KS Cinema, the drama project follows Kessa, a young Afro-Portuguese musician pulled into the music business and criminal underworld after his best friend\u2019s murder. \u201c\u2018Dark Hope\u2019 is a declaration of belonging through music,\u201d said co-creator Diogo Gazella Carvalho.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIdyllic\u201d<\/strong> (Samuel Jefferson, Pierre Puget, Germany)<\/p>\n

\n\tA cozy crime show with a tech sting, \u201cIdyllic\u201d turns on a retired British-German couple investigating murders in Mallorca before discovering they live inside a VR retirement simulation. Berlin\u2019s newly launched BRAINS Narrative Studio is taking the early-development project to Conecta in search of a Spanish minority co-producer.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cNaked\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cNua,\u201d Ann Perell\u00f3, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tSet between Mallorca and Barcelona, \u201cNaked\u201d pairs Menorca-based Empatic \u2014 producer of \u201cFav\u00e0ritx\u201d and co-producer of Goya-nominated \u201cRock Bottom\u201d \u2014 with Corte y Confecci\u00f3n de Pel\u00edculas, whose credits include Leticia Dolera\u2019s Canneseries-winning \u201cPerfect Life\u201d and Oliver Laxe\u2019s \u201cSir\u0101t.\u201d Now in development, the project also has support from Serializados and the Institut d\u2019Estudis Bale\u00e0rics.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cPapa Bas\u201d<\/strong> (Keren Weissman, Israel\/Netherlands\/Germany)<\/p>\n

\n\tZOA Films and The Ripple Effect\u2019s English-language limited series tracks Dutch psychiatrist Jan Bastiaans, who treated traumatized World War II survivors with LSD from the late 1950s. Structured as a Netherlands-Germany-Israel co-production, it seeks creative partners, broadcasters and development financing in territories tied to the story. The team describes it as \u201ca true story almost no one knows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe Refined Palate\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cMorro Fino,\u201d Rodrigo Mart\u00edn Antoranz, Pedro Garc\u00eda R\u00edos, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom Dexiderius Producciones, founded in 1990, builds on the creators\u2019 previous collaboration on \u201cAsuntos Internos,\u201d winner of the RTVE Award at Conecta Fiction Reboot 2020 and later produced by RTVE and Mediacrest. The six-part drama turns gastronomy into emotional memory, following a young chef who becomes the pupil \u2014 and memory-holder \u2014 of a food inspector in the early stages of Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cTriptych\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cTr\u00edptico,\u201d Guillermo Chapa, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tMoving between a thriller and romantic drama, \u201cTriptych\u201d draws on two little-known real-life events: Francis Bacon\u2019s final Madrid romance and the biggest contemporary art theft in Spain. The project comes with Series Mania Writers Campus Lab pedigree and is seeking co-producers, broadcasters and platforms, with potential U.K. links given part of the story\u2019s setting.<\/p>\n

Szelske previously created WarnerMedia Latinoam\u00e9rica\u2019s \u201cNaturaleza Muerta.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cEmmanuel Klaus, The Lady Heartbreaker\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cEmmanuel Klaus, Le Tombeur de ces Dames,\u201d Caroline Tracanelli, France)<\/p>\n

\n\tCannes-based TDCB Productions brings a bilingual French-Spanish dramedy about a failed Spanish con artist who moves into a Riviera senior residence with his mother to seduce wealthy widows. The project seeks a Spanish co-production anchor for a darkly comic story about loneliness, manipulation and the need to matter.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIntense: To Be or Not to Be\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cIntensas: ser o no ser,\u201d Carla Stagno, Chile)<\/p>\n

\n\tMotherhood becomes a pressure point for two lifelong friends nearing 40: one can have children but does not want them; the other desperately wants to conceive but cannot. Backed by Chile\u2019s Fondo Audiovisual de Escritura, the comedy targets Spanish-speaking co-producers and platforms. It comes from Mazal Producciones, whose recent credits include Prime Video\u2019s \u201cSecretos de Familia\u201d and Netflix\u2019s \u201cAl Sur del Coraz\u00f3n.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cMallorca, Things to Do\u201d<\/strong> (Clara Fiol, Joan Tom\u00e0s Mart\u00ednez, Joan Fullana, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an overheated, overcrowded Mallorca, three precarious women accidentally kill a tourist while stealing electricity, then drag two more women into the cover-up. Developed after Serializados Kick and PROMercat, the project comes from Bastera Films, the Mallorca outfit behind \u201cForastera,\u201d winner of a Fipresci Prize at Toronto in 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe Collectors\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cLos cobradores,\u201d Andr\u00e9s S\u00e1nchez Belzunces, Camilo Fonseca, Spain\/Colombia)<\/p>\n

\n\tMixing social realism and black humor, the story centers on Miguel, a gambling-addicted debt collector trapped between loan sharks, impossible collections and a family losing faith in him. The Spain-Colombia project is produced by La Guapa Media.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tPitch Direct to Streaming Movies\t<\/h2>\n

\n\u201cAdopted Girls\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cAdoptadas,\u201d Xiaomei Espiro Rossell\u00f3, \u00c1ngeles Maeso, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tLoba Loba, the production company founded by Spanish actor Inma Cuesta and \u00c1ngeles Maeso, develops a story about three Chinese-Spanish women adopted under China\u2019s One-Child Policy. A possible return to China after Liu\u2019s father dies opens questions of racial dysphoria, abandonment and belonging. The project has participated in the Spanish Film Academy\u2019s Summer Campus.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cDog Rose\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cRosa Canina,\u201d Sof\u00eda Martell, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tAn inheritance draws Lena into a world of luxury unsettled by a disappearance in this advanced-development feature, backed by Mallorca\u2019s Espaitemps and supported by an ICAA screenplay development grant. With the script completed, the project is seeking European co-production partners.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cGreatest Hits\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cGrandes \u00c9xitos,\u201d Leonardo Linkowski, Aro V\u00e1zquez, Mexico)<\/p>\n

\n\tBlockmedia\u2019s musical fiction project converges in a live-music bar run by Alex, a frustrated musician who sees life as a record: some people have greatest hits, others only filler. Sony Music Latin is attached as a strategic music partner, bringing expertise in rights, sync and supervision, as well as potential access to talent from its roster.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cHorns\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cToro,\u201d Arturo Ruiz Serrano, Toni Bestard, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tA Pamplona Sanfermines trip turns deadly when friends dodge a police checkpoint and end up trapped in an isolated dehesa, hunted by a massive wild bull. The survival-horror movie comes from two Spanish short-film veterans with Goya nominations and long festival track records, turning bull-running iconography into primal genre material.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cHow Come Boris Had No Worries?\u201d<\/strong> (Eugen Tunik, Ukraine\/Germany)<\/p>\n

\n\tA dramedy set between the 2004 Orange Revolution and Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine, the project turns on Boris, who hides evidence of his father\u2019s corruption as a teenager and faces the consequences decades later. It is produced by Prokino with Kyiv-and-Berlin outfit DIM Filmhouse.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cNana\u201d<\/strong> (Marcos Callejo, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tAn LGTBIQ+ coming-of-age movie produced by Principal Segona Films, Cin\u00e8tica Produccions and Dacsa Produccions, the project builds on a Balearic-Catalan-Valencian production axis, with a strong support network that includes regional institutions and broadcasters.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cPlaying Away\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cEl otro mundial,\u201d Carlos Morelli, Uruguay)<\/p>\n

\n\tA 15-year-old football player is forced to leave Uruguay for Madrid with the mother who abandoned her, turning the sport into a test of loyalty, anger and adaptation. The project comes from U Films; writer-director Carlos Morelli previously broke out with \u201cMi Mundial,\u201d which reached HBO, Busan and posted strong cunema ticket sales in Uruguay.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cTo Catch an Old Lady\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cAmparo, pero no Olvido,\u201d Luis Miles, Spain)<\/p>\n

\n\tA lonely elderly woman decides prison may be her best chance to reunite with her only friend, setting out to commit a crime serious enough to get locked up. Winner of La Traca\u2019s comedy feature screenplay competition and backed by an AGADIC writing grant, the dark comedy is produced by Galician outfit Tr\u00e9boa.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cTribe\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cPlemi\u0119,\u201d Olga Chajdas, Poland)<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter a sex scandal with a student detonates her life, Ela flees Poland with a friend and joins two sisters carrying their mother\u2019s ashes to Albania. Produced by Furia Film, the road movie turns shame, desire and grief into the engine of a volatile female alliance across Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWhat You Did\u201d<\/strong> (Juli\u00e1n Camilo S\u00e1nchez, Colombia\/U.S.)<\/p>\n

\n\tArturo, a hacker trading in stolen phone data, receives a device containing murder videos and is pulled into a revenge trap. The English-language thriller positions digital anonymity as a gateway to cruelty, voyeurism and the trade in private lives. The project has 60% financing in place, with Plot Twist Capital and Magic Trick attached.<\/p>\n
