You see, on Wednesday, Duffy dropped all six episodes of \u201cThe Great American Road Trip\u201d to YouTube. Though it bills itself as a reality show celebrating America\u2019s 250<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary, its travel and its people, as Oliver pointed out, \u201cIt\u2019s basically just an expensively-produced test run of a Duffy family reality show with each episode featuring a bare minimum about travel or America but a ton of manufactured reality-TV drama around the Duffy\u2019s doing stuff like planning a family party or, over the course of several episodes, watching their daughter decide which college she\u2019ll attend.\u201d (Duffy\u2019s wife is Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, who he met on MTV\u2019s \u201cRoad Rules: All Stars.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn a clip from the show that was widely mocked online, while discussing whether his daughter can go to Harvard, Duffy remarked, \u201cIf I send you there, I think what happens is they have professionalized figuring out how they can take good, young girls like you and, I think, corrupt their minds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWhat the fuck are you talking about?\u201d exclaimed Oliver. \u201cFirst, this was supposed to be a road trip \u2014 why are we still in your kitchen? Second, is there anything less relatable than a family whose conflict is, how do I tell my daughter she can\u2019t go to Harvard because we did too good of a job raising her?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDuffy claimed that the show was shot over seven months and that no taxpayer money was used; rather, the show was funded by the independent company Great American Road Trip Inc., which listed 17 sponsors, Boeing, Toyota, Shell and United Airlines among them, all companies overseen and regulated by Duffy\u2019s Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s not great! The only worse answer to \u2018Who paid for this?\u2019 than \u2018The American taxpayer\u2019 is \u2018a bunch of companies I oversee and regulate,\u2019\u201d cracked Oliver.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnd, when Duffy was pressed about the conflict of interest in Congress, he replied, \u201cDon\u2019t you want to celebrate America?\u201d adding, \u201cIt\u2019s our birthday!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s our birthday? You sound like a fucking child!\u201d exclaimed Oliver. \u201cYou do get that just because it\u2019s America\u2019s birthday doesn\u2019t mean you get to do an ethics violation, right? Grow up, Sean!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe show was supposed to come out in June but Duffy said it needed to be re-edited so it abided by ethics rules. He was actually on \u2018The Real World: Boston\u2019 in the late-90s, where he presented himself as deeply horny,\u201d explained Oliver. \u201cIn his audition, he reportedly said that he wanted to be on the show because of his interest in \u2018cute girls,\u2019 and when asked by a producer how many times he\u2019d had sex in the last six months, he \u2014 and I\u2019m quoting here \u2014 flashed a big smile and said, \u2018Three times. Three different individuals, yeah.
