\nBest Friend Forever has boarded international sales on Eugene Kotlyarenko\u2019s \u201cVintage Violence,\u201d starring Cole Sprouse (\u201cRiverdale\u201d) and Kiko Mizuhara, ahead of the film\u2019s world premiere at Toronto\u2019s Midnight Madness section.<\/p>\n

\n\tWME is handling domestic rights on the thriller, which marks Kotlyarenko\u2019s eighth feature. The filmmaker is known for weaving internet and online-video culture into contemporary stories, most notably with \u201cSpree,\u201d which premiered at Sundance in 2020 and later reached Netflix\u2019s Top 10, and \u201cThe Code,\u201d which played at Fantasia in 2024.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cVintage Violence\u201d also stars Nijiro Murakami (\u201cAlice in Borderland\u201d), Pierre Taki (\u201cLike Father Like Son\u201d) and Hio Miyazawa (\u201cEgoist\u201d). Mizuhara, who leads the cast with Sprouse, will also appear in Takashi Miike\u2019s untitled Kyoto film.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film follows a livestreamer who discovers a hidden cache of rare vintage denim in Colorado. After a subscriber lures him to Japan with the promise of a fortune for the jeans, he becomes embroiled in a dangerous turf war with the Yakuza.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe key crew includes Sean Price Williams, the topnotch cinematographer of \u201cGood Time,\u201d \u201cThe Sweet East\u201d and \u201cThe Moment,\u201d among others. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Vintage Violence\u2019 was made with lots of enthusiasm and cinephilia from everyone involved, so it\u2019s great to work with Best Friend Forever, a company brimming with both those qualities,\u201d said Kotlyarenko said. \u201cMost importantly, we have the same goal in mind: for audiences all over the world to get rocked by this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film reteams Kotlyarenko with producers Alex Hughes and Riccardo Maddalosso of Spacemaker Productions, which also backed \u2019s \u201cSpree\u201d and \u201cThe Code.\u201d The company\u2019s credits also include James Gray\u2019s \u201cArmageddon Time\u201d and Sebasti\u00e1n Silva\u2019s \u201cRotting in the Sun,\u201d among others. Japan\u2019s Barravento, whose credits include \u201cOnoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle,\u201d and Mam Film, behind \u201cLove Life,\u201d are co-producing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cVintage Violence\u201d joins Best Friend Forever\u2019s fall 2026 slate, which also includes the Toronto titles \u201cHalf\u201d and Cannes Un Certain Regard Jury Prize winner \u201cElephants in the Fog.\u201d<\/p>\n
