\n\tSingapore-based film investment group Triple Green CineCapital (TGC) has formalized a partnership with Ch\u00e1nh Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng Films on \u201cThe Scourge\u201d (Tai \u01af\u01a1ng), the Vietnamese video game horror adaptation that Skyline Media launched to buyers at the Cannes Film Market this month, marking TGC\u2019s debut investment in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

\n\tTGC made its industry debut at Indonesia\u2019s JAFF Market 2025 with a stated focus on commercial film across Southeast Asia\u2019s emerging markets. Ch\u00e1nh Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng Films\u2019 slate includes local hits \u201cB\u1eaby R\u1ed3ng,\u201d \u201cEm Ch\u01b0a 18\u201d and \u201c\u0110\u1ec3 Mai T\u00ednh.\u201d The horror-drama is the first of the two companies\u2019 co-productions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe film markets in Vietnam and Southeast Asia have incredible room to grow with unique local stories that have not been fully explored yet, in which expanding the content ecosystem is one of the most important strategies. TGC decides to choose \u2018The Scourge\u2019 as our first investment in Vietnam to reinforce the power of original content IP and local filmmakers in Southeast Asia. This partnership with Ch\u00e1nh Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng Films shows TGC\u2019s trust in the commercial value of the Vietnamese entertainment industry, combined with a clear business plan to bring Vietnamese films to global audiences,\u201d said Leonard Lai, TGC\u2019s chief executive.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe companion of a regional investment partner with a global mindset like TGC gives us a strong launchpad, proving that Vietnamese stories and talents are strong enough to compete internationally and set a new standard for adapted horror films in Vietnam,\u201d added Charlie Nguy\u1ec5n, a producer at Ch\u00e1nh Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng Films.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe source game, which has now crossed 100,000 downloads with a 94% positive rating on Steam, centers on a haunted apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City, inspired by a real abandoned structure in the city. The film adaptation will expand beyond the game\u2019s premise by folding in local urban legends, ghost stories, and old Vietnamese customs. \u0110o\u00e0n S\u0129 Nguy\u00ean (\u201c\u0110i\u1ec1u \u01af\u1edbc Cu\u1ed1i C\u00f9ng\u201d) will direct from a screenplay by Tr\u1ea7n Kh\u00e1nh Ho\u00e0ng, whose credits include \u201cEm Ch\u01b0a 18.\u201d Nguy\u1ec5n and Jimmy Nghi\u00eam Ph\u1ea1m are producing.
