\n\tThe U.K. and Ireland box office found its force over the weekend as Disney\u2019s \u201cStar Wars\u201d spinoff \u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d captured the top spot, debuting to \u00a35.2 million ($7.1 million). <\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal\u2019s musical biopic \u201cMichael\u201d moved to second place in its sixth week of release but sustained momentum, taking $2.4 million for a robust cumulative total of $59.5 million. Universal also claimed the No. 3 position with horror-romance \u201cObsession,\u201d which earned $1.7 million, bringing its total to $5.3 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney\u2019s \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d was in fourth place during its fourth weekend, adding $1.5 million to its lifetime haul, and now has a cume of $40.6 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tRFT Films\u2019 release of the Malayalam-language suspense thriller threequel \u201cDrishyam 3\u201d recorded $1.1 million. \u201cThe Sheep Detectives,\u201d distributed by Sony, followed in sixth place during its third weekend, pulling in $723,515 for a total of $8.7 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tParamount debuted supernatural horror film \u201cPassenger\u201d at number seven, which took in $451,225 over its opening frame.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal scored another entry in the top 10 with \u201cFinding Emily,\u201d which launched at No. 8 with $286,070.<\/p>\n

\n\tRounding out the chart, Universal\u2019s \u201cThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie\u201d took ninth place in its ninth week with $163,220 for a cume of $50.4 million. Picturehouse Entertainment\u2019s \u201cThe Christophers\u201d finished 10th in its second frame, adding $155,270 for an aggregate total of $1.1 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tLooking ahead to the upcoming frame, leading the charge into over 300 locations is A24\u2019s horror-mystery \u201cBackrooms,\u201d directed by Kane Parsons and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. Lionsgate U.K. is also targeting a wide footprint of 300+ sites with John Carney\u2019s musical comedy \u201cPower Ballad,\u201d featuring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Joining them in the wide-release tier is Black Bear\u2019s drama \u201cTuner,\u201d directed by Daniel Roher and starring Leo Woodall alongside Dustin Hoffman.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal is launching Kristin Scott Thomas\u2019s star-studded directorial debut \u201cMy Mother\u2019s Wedding,\u201d which features Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, and Emily Beecham. Concurrently, Vertigo Releasing is rolling out James Lucas\u2019s \u201cMoss & Freud,\u201d starring Ellie Bamber and Derek Jacobi. On a more limited scale, Icon Film Distribution debuts Andrew Durham\u2019s \u201cFairyland\u201d in 25+ locations, while Trinity Films releases Herman Yau\u2019s \u201cWe\u2019re Nothing At All\u201d across a similar footprint. Modern Films rounds out the new contemporary titles with a limited release of Lena Vurma and Thor Klein\u2019s \u201cLeonora in the Morning Light.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tNostalgia and repertory cinema will also play a significant role in the weekend\u2019s marketplace. Park Circus is celebrating a milestone with a 25th-anniversary 4K restoration of the comedy classic \u201cLegally Blonde,\u201d hitting 100+ screens. Action fans will see Arrow Films bring John Woo\u2019s \u201cBullet in the Head\u201d back to theaters via a 4K restoration across 25+ screens, while Curzon presents a 4K reissue of the acclaimed \u201cPortrait of a Lady on Fire.\u201d Event cinema rounds out the schedule with National Theatre Live\u2019s \u201cPlayboy of the Western World \u2013 NT Live 2026\u201d on Thursday, followed by Trafalgar Releasing\u2019s presentation of the opera \u201cEl Ultimo Sueno De Frida Y Diego \u2013 Met Opera 2026\u201d on Saturday.<\/p>\n
