\n\tFronti\u00e8res, the international genre co-production market organized by Montreal\u2019s Fantasia Film Festival, is teaming up with TIFF: The Market to crack open a new genre market showcase at the event\u2019s inaugural edition this September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe showcase will spotlight three Canadian and two international titles at various stages of development. Accredited market attendees look set to get a first look at stories bubbling in the brains of some of the most exciting creators in contemporary genre filmmaking.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe call for submissions for the new showcase opens today (May 28) for titles in all genres sub-genres and stages of development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to partner with Fronti\u00e8res on this dynamic new initiative,\u201d said Charles Tremblay, head of TIFF: The Market. \u201cOne of our primary objectives with the Market is to create space for the wealth of exceptional Canadian talent and projects to garner global attention.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBy aligning our strengths, we\u2019re not only expanding opportunities for storytellers, we\u2019re building a viable platform for distinctive genre content to reach wider audiences.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe TIFF: The Market partnership continues Fronti\u00e8res\u2019 global expansion, following the recent announcement of a new gap-financing program for genre film launching at Tokyo\u2019s TIFFCOM this fall, as well as earlier successes this year at the European Film Market, its evolving partnership with the March\u00e9 du Film in Cannes, and its flagship four-day market event, which will be reanimated at the Fantasia International Film Festival in July.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Fantasia and Fronti\u00e8res\u2019 teams have long been front row center in Toronto\u2019s popular Midnight Madness sidebar, a jewel in the genre universe that has premiered some dangerously hot acquisition titles over the years igniting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tNotable Canadian genre films that have participated in Fronti\u00e8res market programs in recent years include Zarrara Khan\u2019s \u201cIn Flames,\u201d Annick Blanc\u2019s \u201cHunting Daze,\u201d Avalon Fast\u2019s \u201cCamp,\u201d Ramsey Fendall and Deanna Milligan\u2019s \u201cLucid,\u201d Seb McKinnon\u2019s \u201cThe Stolen Child\u201d by Seb McKinnon, and this year\u2019s highly anticipated \u201cAncestral Beasts\u201d by Tim Riedel.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Fronti\u00e8res International Co-Production Market is funded by Telefilm Canada, SODEC, the Government of Quebec, the City of Montreal, Tourisme Montr\u00e9al, le Conseil des arts de Montr\u00e9al, and RDV Canada.<\/p>\n
