\n\t\u201cMallorca Things to Do,\u201d a tourist-crisis comedy from local outfit Bastera Films, led the winners at the 10th edition of Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca, taking the RTVE Play Award and one of three Acorde Awards at the Europe-Americas TV industry forum.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ceremony, held Wednesday May 27 at the Casal de Peguera auditorium, also saw \u201cNua\u201d (\u201cNaked\u201d) take the Triodos Bank Award, while Galician dark comedy \u201cTo Catch an Old Lady\u201d scored two prizes, the Spain Film Commission Award and the Warner Music Award.<\/p>\n

\n\tConecta\u2019s awards recognized projects from its four pitch competitions \u2014 Drama Series, Comedy Series, Vertical Series and Direct to Streaming Movies \u2014 with Spanish titles taking a large share of the prizes and projects from Argentina, Colombia and Germany landing access to partner markets.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet in an overheated, overcrowded Mallorca, \u201cMallorca Things to Do\u201d turns on three precarious women who accidentally kill a tourist while stealing electricity, then drag two more women into the cover-up. Developed via in part Serializados Kick and PROMercat, the project comes from Bastera Films, the Mallorca outfit behind \u201cForastera,\u201d winner of a Fipresci Prize at Toronto in 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe RTVE Play Award consists of a \u20ac5,000 ($5,820) development grant for the project that best embodies creativity, now promoted by streaming platform RTVE Play. The Acorde Award gives \u201cMallorca Things to Do\u201d access to catalogue music for its pilot and potential first season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNaked,\u201d from Empatic Films and Corte y Confecci\u00f3n de Pel\u00edculas, won the \u20ac3,000 ($3,492) Triodos Bank Award, which recognizes a project aligned with positive social, cultural and environmental impact values.<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Ann Perell\u00f3, \u201cNaked\u201d centers on a Mallorcan actress in Barcelona confronting an eating disorder, a stalled career and a family crisis. \u201c\u2018Naked\u2019 was born out of the need to share my secret: I suffered from an eating disorder for years,\u201d Perell\u00f3 said. \u201cIt\u2019s time to talk about how we normalize toxic behaviors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe project pairs Menorca-based Empatic \u2014 producer of \u201cFav\u00e0ritx\u201d and co-producer of Goya-nominated \u201cRock Bottom\u201d \u2014 with Corte y Confecci\u00f3n de Pel\u00edculas, whose credits include Leticia Dolera\u2019s Canneseries-winning \u201cPerfect Life\u201d and Oliver Laxe\u2019s Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize winner \u201cSir\u0101t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGalicia-based Treboa\u2019s \u201cTo Catch an Old Lady\u201d scooped the Spain Film Commission Award, a \u20ac3,000 prize for the project that best showcases Spanish locations as a narrative and production asset. It also scooped the Warner Music Award, consisting of five days of Dolby Atmos studio sessions to help create promotional materials.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo Catch an Old Lady\u201d follows a lonely elderly woman who decides prison may be her best chance to reunite with her only friend, setting out to commit a crime serious enough to get locked up. The project previously won La Traca\u2019s comedy feature screenplay competition and is backed by an AGADIC writing grant.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther Acorde Awards went to Colombia\u2019s \u201cWhat You Did,\u201d from Red Collision Studios, and Dexiderius Producciones\u2019 \u201cAftertaste.\u201d The latter six-part drama centers on a young chef who becomes the pupil \u2014 and memory-holder \u2014 of a food inspector in the early stages of Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAftertaste\u201d creators Rodrigo Mart\u00edn Antoranz and Pedro Garc\u00eda R\u00edos described the project as an exploration of \u201cculinary memory,\u201d seen from \u201cthe unique perspective of the diner,\u201d and of how food connects people to their past and roots.<\/p>\n

\n\tArgentina\u2019s \u201cBreakdowns,\u201d from Lab Producciones, won the Bogot\u00e1 Audiovisual Market \u2013 BAM Award, securing an invitation to pitch at BAM 2026. Created by Sof\u00eda Szelske, Jimena Aguilar and Florencia Sokol, the comedy centers on a woman reconnecting with childhood friends after leaving a psychiatric hospital, only to find their seemingly functional lives marked by obsessions of their own.<\/p>\n

\n\tSzelske said the series looks at \u201cthe kinds of madness we normalize every day,\u201d from work obsession and performative wellness to online aggression and emotional isolation, through humor and a female perspective. \u201cAt its core, it\u2019s also a story about female friendship,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\tGermany\u2019s \u201cIdyllic,\u201d from BRAINS Narrative Studio UG, won the TV Beats Forum Award, taking the Mallorca-set cozy crime series to Estonia\u2019s 2026 industry platform. The project turns on a retired British-German couple investigating murders before discovering they live inside a VR retirement simulation.<\/p>\n

\n\tIts creators have called Mallorca \u201can idyllic place to end your days, but almost too good to be true,\u201d describing the island as \u201ca dramatic engine\u201d rather than just a backdrop.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe New Art Award, consisting of \u20ac5,000 in post-production services, went to Spanish vertical series \u201cRoom Zero,\u201d from Escaleta Audiovisual and Be a Child Group. Colombia\u2019s \u201cRookies,\u201d from Rhayuela Films, received the SANFIC Award, opening up participation at the Series Lab and pitching sessions of SANFIC Industria 2026 in Chile.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe evening also included the presentation of the 2026 Conecta Honorary Award, a lifetime achievement prize, to Variety<\/em>\u2019s John Hopewell, presented by Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca director G\u00e9raldine Gonard in recognition of Hopewell\u2019s decades-long work covering the global entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tribute also featured congratulatory video messages from Jos\u00e9 Luis Rebordinos, director of the San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival; Diego \u00c1valos, Netflix VP for Spain, Portugal and Turkey; Virginia Ju\u00e1rez, founder of Fondosa Foundation; Cartoon Brew editor-in-chief Jamie Lang and FIPCA VP Gabriela Sandoval.<\/p>\n

\n\tPart of Inside Content\u2019s Event Conecta umbrella, Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca took place May 25-28 and was held in association with Calvi\u00e0 Town Council, supported by the Sustainable Tourism Tax, with collaboration from ICIB and support from IB3, the Mallorca Island Council and Palma Town Council.<\/p>\n
