ChaiFlicks has acquired exclusive SVOD rights in the U.S., U.K. and Australia to both seasons of “Kid Sister,” the hit comedy series from Seven. One Studios International. The show will debut on ChaiFlicks this fall.
“Kid Sister” was created, written and executive produced by Simone Nathan (“Our Flag Means Death,” “We Might Regret This”), who also stars in the series. The deal was unveiled by Neil Friedman, co-founder of ChaiFlicks, and Tobias Schulze, senior VP of Global Sales at Seven. One Studios International.
Originally commissioned by TVNZ in New Zealand, the semi-autobiographical series follows Lulu (Nathan), an unmarried 29-year-old living with her Jewish family in Auckland, New Zealand – a country where a national census once famously recorded more Jedis than Jews. Torn between her family’s push to preserve tradition and a secret relationship with her non-Jewish boyfriend, Ollie, Lulu tries to chart her own course between culture and independence.
Friedman said: “Simone Nathan is an extraordinary talent. Her sharp writing, distinctive sense of humor, and authentic portrayal of a young woman navigating a deeply conflicted relationship with herself and her family are truly remarkable. I would describe her voice as a blend of Lena Dunham and Jenny Slate – smart, fearless, and refreshingly original – and ‘Kid Sister’ is a perfect showcase for her exceptional talent.”
Before “Kid Sister,” Nathan built a resume in American television – she held writing and producing credits on HBO Max’s “Our Flag Means Death,” contributed to Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” and joined the writers’ room for Netflix’s “Bloodline.”

Nathan said, “I’ve always hoped that audiences beyond New Zealand would connect with this series and the story we’re telling. At its core, the show explores the universal pressure many people face from family and society to settle down, regardless of their religion, background, or gender. Because so many elements of my own life are woven into the series, it’s especially meaningful to share it with a broader audience.”
“Kid Sister” is produced by Greenstone TV, with Emily Aderton producing and Aidee Walker directing. In all, the acquisition covers 10 episodes split evenly across the two seasons, with each episode running about 20 minutes.
ChaiFlicks is dedicated to Jewish content from around the world.
ChaiFlicks co-founder Bill Weiner handled the negotiations for the streamer, working opposite Fleur Wheatley, VP Sales at Seven. One Studios International.
