“Monopoly” is about to get a lot more realistic.

Netflix announced it is now casting for the new competition series based on the world of “Monopoly,” where contestants have the chance to win $2 million.

Competing on a life-sized Monopoly Town Square, 12 players will use strategy, alliance and dealmaking to take home the prize. With opportunities to earn money, buy properties and negotiate deals, the contestants must work to stay afloat as the bankrupt players get eliminated, with only one player left standing.

“Monopoly” will premiere in the fall of 2027 and is made in partnership with Hasbro Entertainment and produced by Studio Lambert, which was also behind the Netflix competition shows “Squid Game: The Challenge” and “The Circle.”

Gabriel Marano and Zachary Edwin from Hasbro Entertainment will executive produce “Monopoly,” along with Studio Lambert’s Nia Yemoh, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert and Kim Murphy.

Hasbro Entertainment has also announced a deal with LuckyChap and Lionsgate to produce a film based on “Monopoly,” with Lionsgate and LuckyChap looking to build on the success they had with the Mattel property “Barbie.” The entertainment company is also working on both scripted and non-scripted re-imaginiations of “Clue” across film and television, along with a live-action “Dungeons & Dragons” series currently in development at Netflix.

“Monopoly” joins the world of board game adaptations alongside an unscripted adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” titled “Wonka’s The Golden Ticket,” which will premiere on Sept. 23.

Monopoly debuted in 1935 and has since sold over 275 million copies worldwide.
