The NBC streamer raised prices across all three of its plans on Aug. 18, with its ad-supported Peacock Premium tier jumping from $10.99 to $12.99 per month, or from $109.99 to $129.99 annually. Premium Plus, which removes most ads and adds downloads, is now $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year.
Enter Walmart+, the retailer’s $98-a-year membership program, which offers free subscriptions to Peacock and Paramount+ as one of its many perks. A Walmart+ membership costs $12.95/month, meaning an annual membership actually $31.99 cheaper than paying for a year of Peacock Premium on its own.
Although members are only allowed to take advantage of one of the two streaming offers, savvy users online have revealed a workaround. Walmart says members are allowed to switch their included streaming provider once every 90 days. So, for example, you could choose Peacock Premium, watch it for 90 days, switch to Paramount+ Essential for the next 90 days and then switch back to Peacock once another 90-day period has elapsed. You don’t have to switch when the window opens; if you do nothing, your current service remains active.
That makes Walmart+ particularly useful for viewers willing to plan their subscriptions around specific releases. Peacock includes next-day NBC and Bravo programming, Peacock originals, movies and a growing slate of live sports, while Paramount+ Essential ($8.99/month on its own) offers programming from CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and more, alongside Paramount films, originals and select live sports.
